Car rental terms in Bishkek: questions and answers
What documents do I need to rent a car?
A driver’s licence and a passport.
What is the age requirement?
From 21 to 75 years inclusive. The insurance can be extended up to 75 years for an additional fee of $100 to $150, depending on the car model.
How much driving experience is required?
At least 2 years.
What is the minimum rental period?
Three days.
How large is the deposit and in which currency?
From $300 to $700 depending on the car model. The deposit is accepted in any currency.
Is there a mileage limit?
The average daily limit is 300 km. Mileage is totalled across the whole rental period — for 7 days that is 2,100 km. Excess mileage costs $0.35 per kilometre.
Can I drive outside Kyrgyzstan?
The territory of operation is the Kyrgyz Republic. Crossing the border is prohibited, or possible only by prior agreement with the lessor.
What happens if the car breaks down during the trip?
Technical support arranges the repair. If the car cannot be repaired, it will be replaced.
What does the insurance cover and what is the deductible?
MTPL and CASCO insurance policies are included in the rental price. The deductible is $500 and applies if the renter is found at fault in an accident. Vehicle components, the windshield and tyres are not part of the basic coverage.
Can I insure the windshield and tyres?
Yes. Extended insurance is purchased separately and covers vehicle components, the windshield and tyres. It costs $200 for the entire rental period.
Booking
How do I book a car?
Choose a car at autopark.kg and send an inquiry on WhatsApp to +996 555 85-85-85 or +996 505 85-85-85. If the car is available, transfer a prepayment of about $100 to reserve it.
Is the prepayment refundable if I cancel?
No. If the reservation is cancelled on the renter’s initiative, the prepayment is not refunded.

Do you need an International Driving Permit (IDP) or a translation in Kyrgyzstan?
The Kyrgyz Republic is a full participant in the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic (Law of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 74 dated June 8, 1998). According to Article 41 of the Convention, participating countries mutually recognize national driver’s licenses without requiring additional documents.
If your country is included in the list of parties to the 1968 Vienna Convention, an IDP or translation is not required, provided that your driver’s license meets the international standard.
You DO NOT NEED a translation or IDP if your license:
- Was issued by a country from the list below.
- Is a plastic card and contains numbered fields (1, 2, 3, etc.).
- Includes your name and surname written in Latin characters (English letters).
You MUST HAVE an IDP (International Driving Permit) if:
- Your country is not a party to the Vienna Convention (for example: USA, Canada, China, India, Egypt). These countries follow the Geneva Convention on Road Traffic, which requires an international booklet accompanying the national license.
- Your national driver’s license is printed only in your native language (e.g., Chinese characters, Arabic script) without a Latin transliteration.
